Bluebird ParkBluebird Park music events are the most wonderful time of the year.  Some people wait all year for the magic of the holidays to come. Others wait in anticipation for the summer concert series in Bluebird Park. While Laguna Beach’s guests have taken over the rest of the city, a Sunday summer evening in Laguna Beach is when you can find Laguna Beach residents having a good time together. The music in the park series is a sanctuary where locals enjoy the summer air. New to town? Bluebird Park is the best place to meet your fellow neighbors and business owners.

Bluebird Park is Different

Bluebird ParkMany cities have concerts in the park. Bluebird Park is special because of the people. Everyone knows each other, and if they don’t, they act like they do. People are happy to share their food and wine, and they willingly squish themselves in a bit to make room for you. Folks don’t isolate themselves to their own little ‘camp sites.’ Everyone mingles, strolls, dances, and shares. If you don’t meet someone new or get to know someone better at this event, you must surely be dead.

Bluebird Park Music

Bluebird ParkThe Laguna Arts Commission, who sponsors the Bluebird Park events, takes the time to choose good live music acts. The music theme changes week to week. There are many well-known musicians in Laguna Beach. Many grew up here and still live here. You could be surprised to see who might be sitting-in and playing music alongside the featured musicians.

Bluebird Park Grounds

Bluebird Park is flat and easy to lay a blanket on and relax. There are playgrounds for the kids in the small park as well. The shape of the park’s hillsides surrounding the park give it excellent acoustics. Music seems to sound better here.

Bluebird Park Laguna Beach 2014 schedule -31st year

The Bluebird Park event “is” summer in Laguna Beach. During the last week in August when the show ends for the year, I will be the guy in the middle of the park with a tear in my eye. It’s OK though, only 44 weeks till next year!

July 13, 2014        Cubensis (Grateful Dead Music Tribute)
July 20, 2014        Lisa Haley and the Zydecats (Zydeco)
July 27, 2014        Stone Soul (Soul)
August 3, 2014     Beatroots (Beatles)
August 10, 2014   The Fenians (Irish)
August 17, 2014   Lesterfari & Kings Music (Reggae)
August 24, 2014   Tom Nolan Band (Blues)

Know before you go to Bluebird Park in Laguna Beach:

  • Music from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Entry is Free
  • No set-up allowed prior to 3 p.m.
  • Umbrellas can be used prior to the concert, but must be taken down during the event.
  • Please bring low beach chairs, so everyone can enjoy the concert.
  • No dogs are allowed at Bluebird Park.

Getting to Bluebird Park & Parking

To get to Bluebird Park, take South Coast Highway to Laguna Beach, turn east on Cress Street. You will see Bluebird Park at the corner of Cress Street and Bluebird Canyon Drive. On the west side of the park at Temple Terrace and Cress Street, there are less than 10 parking spaces, which are usually gone hours before the show starts at 5. Many people just walk to the park from nearby neighborhoods. If you must drive, you will find parking on one of the surrounding streets. My tip is to pack light. The streets are hilly and narrow making parking and walking to the park a small challenge.
