It’s getting haute on the West Coast partly due to the launch of Gladstone L&C, a premiere styling and shopping service helmed by NYC bred stylist, Lori Gladstone, who is now operating in Laguna Beach.
Gladstone provides style makeovers, personal shopping, and gift assistance with New York sleek and west coast flair. Gladstone focuses on creating functional wardrobes for professionals as well as daters. “It’s not about the money, it’s about creating the look,” Gladstone explained. When re-defining her clients’ looks, Gladstone encourages them out of their comfort zones and shows them how to take risks, while staying true to themselves.
The idea for a lifestyle shopping company began as a small seed in the mind of Gladstone, who began her journey studying fashion and merchandising at NYU. Working with top level designers, such as Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, gave her insight into the industry, and confidence in her distinct flair for fashion. After catering to an elite clientele for the exclusive “At Your Service” personal shopping service at South Coast Plaza, she decided to take her talent in the direction it was born to go.
Gladstone describes herself as sincere, honest, and kind while acknowledging that she is much more sensitive than her protective exterior would indicate. If she could change one thing about herself, she would put less pressure on herself, but I don’t see that happening any time soon. Gladstone is as driven in business as she is in sports.
After months of preparation, Gladstone took down her third half Ironman in Panama on February 16. Despite a 100-degree heat and 80 percent humidity, she still managed to cut 30 minutes from her last race, finishing in in 5 hours 40 minutes. She came fourth in her age group, only minutes away from a podium spot.
Just a little more than a month later, on March 30, she challenged herself to a full Ironman triathlon in Los Cabos, Mexico. Overcoming shin splints, a pulled hamstring and technical difficulties with her equipment, Gladstone completed a 2.4-mile ocean swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run in 13:26:19, cutting 26:38 minutes from her last time in 2012 Cozumel. “The marathon portion of an Ironman is the true test of character, mind over matter, testament of will” said Gladstone. “For me, it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come.”
As Orange County prepares to take on the coming fashion season, Gladstone is prepared to take on the fashion and lifestyle needs of each individual. Come and get a style makeover that’s personal with an Empire State style injection.
